How are you different from other advisors?
The client is at the center of our process. We don’t “put” you into a portfolio or a product; we work with you to find the best solutions for you and your family’s needs.
Our experienced advisors collaborate with you in a comfortable environment, seeking to empower you in your financial future.
Walkner Condon is fee-only, which means the only revenue we receive is from the management fees that are paid to us by our clients. We serve as a fiduciary to our clients – that means we must recommend products that are in our clients’ best interest. We do not receive any commissions from the sales of financial products.
Does your initial meeting carry a fee?
Our initial “fit” meeting carries no cost or obligation. Usually, this meeting lasts about 45 minutes and is designed to let you get a feel for how we work with clients and discover what you would like to accomplish. We will mutually decide after that meeting if we would like to continue on to further conversations. This initial onboarding process often takes 1-3 additional meetings depending on the complexity of your personal situation.
What should I expect for returns?
Working with an advisor doesn’t necessarily give you “better” performance or that we will beat some arbitrary investment benchmark like the S&P 500. Frankly, if performance is your main driver of determining success, we may not be the right fit for you. We believe in trying to keep costs low while achieving broad diversification across a variety of asset classes.
Do you have an account minimum?
Our investable asset minimum is $500,000. If you are close to that amount, or have questions about what constitutes an investable asset, please feel free to contact us ahead of scheduling a meeting.

What are the types of clients you usually work with?
Clients that we work with generally have the following attributes:
- You value our cumulative experience, expertise, the thoughtful advice we’re able to offer as a result (and are willing to incorporate it).
- You know how to set a goal and achieve it.
- You want us to help you grow your wealth, not time the markets or offer tips on “hot” stocks or sectors.
- You see us as your knowledge resource for every life event that involves a dollar sign, but you also know that it’s not cool to text us at 7 a.m. on Saturday and expect an immediate response.

Do you work with clients that want to align their values with their investing?
Absolutely. We offer portfolios for those investors that would like to follow an environmental, social, and governmental (also known as ESG) screening process or wish to align religious beliefs with their investments.
Founded in 2012, Walkner Condon Financial Advisors is an independent, SEC-registered wealth management firm in Madison, WI. As fee-only, fiduciary financial advisors, we are legally bound to act in the best interest of our clients. We also have three CFP® professionals on staff, a designation looked to as the gold standard among financial advisors. We support clients locally with meetings at our Madison-based office on Monroe Street, as well as clients throughout the country with virtual appointments.
Our Team of U.S. Expat Advisors
Walkner Condon started by serving clients locally in Madison, WI, and around the country. Starting in 2019, we expanded to serving Americans around the globe, with a team of financial advisors who focus on working with U.S. expats, cross-border families with U.S. citizenship, and non-Americans looking to invest in the U.S. Because of the myriad challenges this group of people face, we have a separate website dedicated to addressing investing while living outside the U.S.
One of the unique things about Madison and Milwaukee is that for cities of their size, they have many international connections: either through dynamic multi-national companies or through the University. As we’ve grown, we realized that we could use the expertise of someone who could help our clients wherever they or their families end up. That’s another thing that is comfortably unique about Walkner Condon: we can help you wherever in the world life takes you.
